The iPhone Duo’s hinge has the ability to trigger Shortcuts automation that can run actions when the device is in a folded or unfolded state.
The feature was highlighted by YouTuber Stephen Robles, called “Opened or Closed,” and you can navigate to it by heading over to the Display Automations category.
Developers are already making great use of the hinge with all of their silly apps, and the Shortcuts app is another way to initiate different commands, like changing the wallpapers every time the Duo is closed and opened again.
It’s a pretty neat little addition that gives power users more control over what their device can do. Apple has not shared this feature on stage and left it for users to discover on their own. The iPhone Duo is still young, and there’s a lot more we don’t know yet, so do stick around for more.
