Apple

Apple started in a California garage in 1976, when Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne set out to sell the Apple I, and the company introduced the Macintosh in 1984.

Jobs was pushed out a year later and came back in 1997 to rescue a struggling company, and what followed was the iMac, the iPod, the iPhone in 2007 and the iPad in 2010.

Tim Cook took over as CEO in 2011 and built Apple into a services giant and the first company worth $3 trillion, adding Apple Watch, AirPods, its own M-series chips and Vision Pro.

In September 2026 John Ternus, the hardware engineering chief who joined Apple in 2001, succeeded Cook as CEO, with Cook becoming executive chairman. TheMacPost covers every product, every update and the company’s next chapter.
