  1. That's a wrap

And that's a wrap! Apple finally gave us a touchscreen Mac, a tandem OLED display, the Dynamic Island and the glowing Apple logo, all in one night, and honestly, I'm still processing it. Here's everything in one place:

Apple's touchscreen MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR: everything Apple announced
The M6 iMac and 14-inch MacBook Pro
    The iPad mini 8
Why every Apple device now wants to be another one

    Thanks for following along tonight!

  2. The glowing Apple is BACK

Scratch my correction, it's real! Apple CEO John Ternus just confirmed it himself: the Apple logo on the lid lights up again, for the first time since 2016. I'm not crying, you're crying.

    See John Ternus's post on X →

  3. Everything in one place

Want the full rundown without scrolling? I wrote up everything Apple announced about the touchscreen MacBook Pro, from the PROLED XDR display to every price.

  4. About that glowing logo

Quick correction on my earlier excitement: Apple's official press release doesn't mention a light-up Apple logo anywhere, so treat that early report with a pinch of salt until we see one in person. My heart is still hoping, though.

  5. macOS 27 and Siri AI

It ships with macOS 27, so you get Siri AI with personal context, Apple Intelligence across apps and the new Liquid Glass slider. Siri now lives in the Dynamic Island too, which feels like where it always should have been.

  6. Pre-orders are open

You can pre-order it right now on apple.com and in the Apple Store app in 30 countries, including the U.S., and it starts arriving Friday, November 6. If you want one at launch, I wouldn't wait long.

  7. Pro-grade extras

For the hardcore pros, there's a built-in display calibrator, reference modes for film and print, new DICOM modes for reviewing medical images, and genlock for on-set video work. This display is clearly built to replace a reference monitor.

  8. Charging and battery

Battery is rated at up to 24 hours, and fast charging gets you to 50 percent in just 30 minutes. With an OLED panel that sips power at 10Hz, I'm curious how close real-world use gets.

  9. Clever camera trick

Here's a detail I didn't expect: the 12MP Center Stage camera now stabilizes video automatically when you're touching the screen on a call, so your face doesn't wobble every time you tap. Apple really thought this through.

  10. Ports, all of them

Port lineup stays generous: three Thunderbolt 5, HDMI, SD card slot, MagSafe and a headphone jack, with support for up to three external displays on M5 Pro and four on M5 Max. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 come via Apple's own N1 chip.

  11. Hear this

The six speakers get new woofers with 50 percent deeper bass, and for the first time there's special audio tuning for when the lid is closed and you're plugged into a monitor. Small thing, but a really thoughtful one.

  12. Play it on screen

My favorite demo so far: in Logic Pro, you can play a full Multi-Touch piano right on the display, and in Final Cut Pro you can pinch to zoom in on a cut. This is where Touch actually makes sense on a Mac.

  13. Your apps already work

Most apps support Touch from day one, since macOS turns taps into clicks, and big names like Microsoft Office, Lightroom, DaVinci Resolve, Blender and Zoom are already on board. No waiting around for developers, which is a smart move.

  14. For the color nerds

The display now covers both P3 and Adobe RGB, plus over 80 percent of Rec. 2020, and the nano-texture option is now etched right into the glass. Photographers and colorists are going to have a field day.

  15. Bigger screens

Thanks to slimmer borders, the 16-inch model now has a 16.3-inch display and the 14-inch gets 14.2 inches. More screen, smaller body. No complaints.

  16. Under the hood

Inside, it's M5 Pro and M5 Max, up to 128GB of memory and, for the first time, up to 16TB of storage, with up to 24 hours of battery. No M6 here, which stings a tiny bit, but these chips are still monsters.

  17. Lighter. Much lighter.

The 14-inch now weighs 3 pounds and the 16-inch just 4, both noticeably lighter and a little thinner than before, plus a redesigned hinge to keep the screen steady when you tap it. A 16-inch Pro at 4 pounds is wild.

  18. Bye, notch

The notch is gone and the Dynamic Island is here, now home to Spotlight, Live Activities and Siri AI. You can literally tap it to pause a song or accept an AirDrop. I love this.

  19. Touch, for real

Touch works the way you'd hope: swipe to scroll, pinch to zoom, double-tap a window to fill the screen. The sensor is built right into the panel, and the keyboard and trackpad stay put, so it's a Mac first, touch second. Exactly how it should be.

  20. The price

Okay, deep breath. The 14-inch with M5 Pro starts at $2,899 and the 16-inch at $3,399, while the M5 Max versions go up to $4,499 and $4,799. It's a lot, but honestly, I expected worse.

  21. It has a name

Apple's press release is out, and it's officially the "MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display." Up to 2,000 nits, a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio and 120Hz ProMotion. That display sounds unreal.

  22. Apple's Newsroom page is blank right now, which usually means the full press release is about to drop. Meanwhile, Apple's own site confirms pre-orders for the M6 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac open at 10:10 AM PT, with deliveries from November 6.

  23. First details, via 9to5Mac: a tandem OLED display you can touch, M5 Pro and M5 Max chips inside, and wait for it... a light-up Apple logo on the lid. The glowing Apple is BACK, and I'm a little emotional.

  24. It's official

IT'S HERE. Apple just announced a redesigned MacBook Pro, and yes, it's the first Mac with a touchscreen. After 15 years of 'no,' I genuinely can't believe I'm typing this. Details coming in hot.

  25. And there it is, the classic sign. Apple's online store just went down with a "Be right back" message, which usually means something new is about to show up. Here we go!

  26. While we wait, a quick heads-up: pre-orders for the iPad mini 8 and the M6 iMac and 14-inch MacBook Pro open today, so if one of those was already on your list, you are good to go.

  27. It's 10 AM in Los Angeles and we're officially on. No livestream this time, so I'm glued to Apple's Newsroom for the first press release. Fingers crossed.

  28. Two minutes to go, and the coffee's ready. Let's see if Apple finally lets us touch a Mac.

  29. Oh, and it might not even be called MacBook Pro. 'MacBook Ultra' keeps popping up, and honestly, I'm not mad about it.

  30. On the inside, reports point to M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, though M6 isn't off the table, and I'd bet on a price jump somewhere between $300 and $500, which is going to sting a little.

  31. So what am I expecting? A MacBook Pro with an OLED display you can actually touch, a Dynamic Island where the notch used to be, and a thinner, lighter body, which honestly sounds like the MacBook Pro I've wanted for years.

  32. We're live! Apple's Pro and tell event kicks off at 10 AM PT, and all eyes are on the first touchscreen Mac. I'll post every announcement here as it lands, so keep this page open.
